Detail of the feather decorated twigs Sebastian made in kindy today – a common Shrovetide tradition in Scandinavia (and other places)? The twigs are supposed to symbolize the suffering of Christ, although few know the real reason for them – they’ve become “just decorations” for most. Me included.

Spending a couple of days on a cruise ferry between Norway and Germany, I brought the book “In praise of slow” by Carl Honoré. I am supposed to read it because of work stuff, but it _is_ really fitting for the situation – what else to do on a ferry but to take things slow?
