Sophie Lancaster (Nov 26th, 1986 - Aug 24th, 2007) was a British woman who was brutally attacked with her boyfriend while walking through a park in Lancashire. As a result of her severe head injuries she went into a coma, never regained consciousness and later died. The police suggested the attack was possibly caused by the couple wearing gothic fashion and being members of the goth subculture. The aims of the fund will be to provide an appropriate memorial; a lasting legacy to raise awareness of the injustice perpetrated against Sophie Lancaster and to work towards a more tolerant, less violent society.
