Photography project halt
I’ve spent the last couple of hours cancelling the group memberships at the different 365/366 projects at flickr, renaming photos and even deleting some. Taking at least one decent photo every day took a turn from being a creative challenge to being a chore, and I really don’t want that. A few good things came out of it: I bring my camera with me more often, I get outside more often, I’ve tried my hand at a few techniques that I perhaps otherwise wouldn’t have (and will continue to learn more on those) – and perhaps most importantly: my partner wants a camera now, to tag along with me and the kids on our photowalks. He will most probably be getting a Nikon D40 – they have a great bargain on that at our local photo store, and with 5 Nikon lenses in the house already it would definitely be the wisest choice. He was initially thinking of getting _me_ a better camera and then “inherit” my D70s, but I don’t really see how we could afford (and defend) that, as a D200 would be the next step up (the D80 doesn’t differ much from D70). A D200, body only, is twice the price of the D40 kit plus a speedflash… Oh well, at least we will have to give it some thought – although I am happy with my current camera, I admit that it’s quite tempting!
