Project 365 - 15

My oldest son was granted a pc for school, and this afternoon and most of the evening was spent setting it up. The pre-installed Norton had to go.
Tech question: If anyone has a tip on how to get the home network working, I’m all ears! We have several WinXP computers, and now this Vista laptop. They all "see" each others’ shared folders, but they’re not allowed to share files. The Vista isn’t allowed to open the shared folders on the other computers at all, while the XP computers are allowed to open the Vista’s shared folders and _start_ sending files into them, but the transfer stops after a few seconds, claiming that the destination folder no longer exists. It seems to be a time-out problem? I ended up transferring files using a memory stick..
(details: Vista on WLAN, XP’s on regular LAN // Vista pc is added to the MSHOME network, same as the others // Vista folders are set to be shared by "all" // The password option is disabled in Vista // Firewalls are set to allow file sharing // Everything seems to be working ok up until the point of opening/adding to the other computer’s shared folder - that’s when it times out and I get the error message)
